William Thomas Copus b 1881 Watlington listed in 1901 UK Census as William Copis.
William Copus b 1820 Watlington listed correct in UK 1841//71/81/1901 Census’s but as Copas in 1851/61/91 Census
Samuel Copus b 1871 London listed correct in UK 1871 Census but as Copas in 1881 & Copers in 1901 Census’s

William Copus bapt 16 July 1820 Watlington Oxon Son of William Copus b 1786c Oxon & Hannah b 1796c
William married Sarah Nash 1 July 1841 Watlington. Sarah died 1842 he then married Frances Marshall Dec 1849 and together they had one son William born Dec 1850 Watlington. Frances Copus ‘nee’ Marshall died 1870. William then
married Hannah Jones June1876 Hannah died 1905. William died Dec 1906 age 86.
In the 1851 census William is listed as Journeyman Blacksmith. In the 1861 census as Blacksmith Master employing 2 men and 1 boy. Frances his wife is shown as Shopkeeper. In the 1871 census he is shown as Blacksmith Master employing 2 men & 1 boy and his son age 20 shown as Baker & Grocer. In the 1881 & 1891 he is shown as a
Grocer then in 1901 as a retired Grocer. Williams son William Copus born 1850 died age 24 in 1874 in Watlington.

The photos of Margaret Clara & Rose Hannah were given to me by Margaret Shepherd the GGrandaughter of Margaret
Clara. She also told me the interesting story of how the two girls ran away from home after their mother Harriet Copus
died in 1854 and their father James married Anne Dandridge who they were unable to get on with. Rose married Harry
Heath & Margaret married Thomas Cox. The photo of Grace Sophia Copus with her daughter also Grace Sophia was
given to me by Kathy Francis the GGrandaughter of Grace Sophia Copus, Grace married twice first to George Caterer
And then to William Cox.
